The Parental Bereavement (Leave and Pay) Act is expected to come into effect from April 2020. Employees will be entitled to Parental Bereavement Leave following the loss of a child or miscarriage/stillbirth during pregnancy.
Both parents will be legally entitled to two weeks of paid leave following the loss of a child under 18yrs old or a stillbirth/miscarriage after 24 weeks of pregnancy. Outside of these circumstances it will still be the Employer’s choice if they want to grant an employee Compassionate Leave.
